Dr. Daan Boom is the Director of International Operations of CCLFI, a Manila, Philippines based knowledge and learning consultancy. Daan is specialised in designing and implementing structures and processes to improve access to information, developing knowledge partnerships, enhance organizational learning, and change management.
Trained and educated as librarian he was exposed to knowledge management for an international accounting firm as a member of the International knowledge management Steering Committee. During his professional life, he remained loyal to libraries as part-time tutor for the University, Chairman of the Public Library of Amstelveen, the Netherlands and authoring numerous publications on the changing role of libraries.
In 2003, he joined the Asian Development Bank as Head KM. In this capacity, he implemented business process to advance cross-organizational learning, communities of practices, file management and rejuvenate the role and position of the library as agent of change.
Following Manila he was assigned to Kathmandu Nepal to assist the International Centre for Integrated Development (ICIMOD), an international research centre on climate change and mountains, as program knowledge manage. He developed, among other initiatives, a regional Himalayan University (library) Consortium program to enhance regional collaboration, curriculum development, teacher/student exchange and joint research.
With a Masters and PhD in Library and Information Management, respectively Social Science, Daan continues to work as consultant to assist academic institutions and development organizations in transformational processes to improve access to information, ICT, Knowledge and Learning for Development.
